ABE TRAVEL, TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY

The Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry is today the largest and most pervasive within the global economy. The need to provide quality services in a business-orientated manner requires management leadership in all the main functional business areas - finance, marketing, human resource management, operations as well as strategic leadership. ABE's Travel, Tourism and Hospitality qualifications provide a pathway through which students can develop a combination of key business skills and industry knowledge in preparation for the varied and exciting careers which the industry offers.

CERTIFICATE IN TRAVEL, TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY
There are four compulsory subjects:

1. Introduction to Business
2. Introduction to Accounting
3. Introduction to Business Communication
4. Introduction to Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

Course Commencement:
September and January

Duration of the course:
One semester-full time

Entry requirements:
No formal qualifications are required, but applicants must demonstrate competence in the English language.

ABE DIPLOMA IN TRAVEL, TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY (PARTS 1 & 2)
The Diploma comprises two parts of equal standing.
PART I - Four compulsory subjects

1. Economic Principles and their Application to Business
2. Organisational Behaviour
3. Financial Accounting
4. Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

PART 2 - Three compulsory subjects

1. Marketing Policy, Planning and Communication
2. Human Resource Management
3. Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management

Plus two from the following options:

4. Managerial Accounting
5. Principles of Business Law
6. Systems Analysis and Design

Course commencement:
September and January

Duration of the course:
One year full-time

Entry requirements:
Applicants must have attained one of these following qualifications:
. ABE Certificate in Business Management
. Two GCE 'A' levels together with four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English language and mathematics.
. An 'Access' Certificate from a UK College of Further Education.
. Pitman qualifications -two passes at Level 3 in relevant subjects.
. Other recognised qualifications that follow University of London guidelines.

ABE ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN TRAVEL, TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY
Course structure:
Students must pass three compulsory subjects and two optional subjects from the choice of four. .

3. Managing the Information

4. Strategic Human Resource
    Management for Business
    Organisation@
5. Corporate Strategy and
    Planning*
6. Strategic Marketing

7. Tourism and
    the Environment*

* - Compulsory subjects
@ - Optional subjects


Course commencement:
September and January

Duration of the course:
One year full-time or one semester-intensive full time study

Entry requirements:
Applicants must have attained one of the following qualifications:
. ABE Diploma in Business Management.
. A degree awarded by a recognised UK or overseas university.
. * Other recognised qualifications of approved overseas institutions of Higher Education.
