London college of Management Studies (LCMS) is proud to be affiliated with Thames Valley University (TVU) - one of the leading institutions of higher education in London with over 55,000 students. TVU became a university in 1992, and has over 140 years experience in technical and vocational education.
The Ealing campus was founded in 1860 as the Lady Byron School.
The school was widely recognised for its work in art and design, and in 1950 the portfolio of courses was extended to include hotel, and catering and degree courses. In the sixties it was designated a College of Higher Education, and ran the first ever degree in business studies. TVU currently has two more campuses; one in Slough founded in 1907 and one in Reading established in 1947.
TVU has accredited the LCMS's Foundation programme that would provide a suitable entry route to all LCMS students in various disciplines for TVU awards.
Foundation Programme
This programme is aimed at local and overseas students who do not have the entry requirements necessary for direct admittance to any undergraduate programme at TVU. It is a one year intensive programme undertaken before student's progresses to a degree or higher diploma course. There are two intakes commencing in September and January.
The academic year is divided into 2 semesters and students will study 4 modules per semester. Each module consisting of 4 hours per week teaching time.
This programme is designed to be strongly interactive; class discussion, case analysis, debates, presentations and group work are all key elements of the course.

Teaching methods
LCMS uses a variety of traditional and modern methods such as lectures, tutorials, group work, student presentations and self-access resource based learning.
Assessment
The programme is assessed throughout the academic year by a variety of methods including coursework, continuous assessment, tests and examinations.
Student support
The course co-ordinator will supervise the general academic progress of students and advise on the University degree application process. Module tutors will provide feedback on student progress on the individual modules they are teaching.
The award
At the end of the academic year, students' progression is determined by a programme assessment board and successful students will be awarded the International Foundation Diploma.
On successful completion of the foundation course, students would have the automatic right of progression to a place on a suitable course at Thames Valley University. The course co-ordinator will discuss the choice of further study with the students and will also help to complete student's university application form.
Entry requirements
Students are expected to have successfully completed a relevant University entrance qualifications from their own country, i.e. either an 'A' level or equivalent and should have a reasonable command of written and spoken English, for example an overall IELTS score of 5.5 or above. If students do not hold an IELTS 5.5 or equivalent, they will be provided with a written task to enable us to assess their level of English.
All students will be re-tested for English proficiency by the college on arrival at LCMS.
Fee
The tuition fee for the 2008 academic year is £3,800 (sterling) which includes all course textbooks and materials.
