The Institute of Administrative Management (iam)

Established in 1915, the Institute of Administrative Management is the only professional body for both practising and aspiring Administrative Managers. iam qualifications and Membership of the institute provide students with the expertise, knowledge and practical skills to sustain their competitive advantage. The London College of Management Studies (LCMS) is accredited and approved by iam as a tuition and examination centre to iam courses.

Programme Structure

This is a two years programme which leads to certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma through the Institute of Administrative Management (iam). The structure is as follows.

Course Assessment

The Certificate stage will be assessed creation of a reflective learning diary related to the learning outcomes of each unit and a project report of between 2,000 and 2,500 word. There is no examination for this stage. Units 1-4 of Diploma subjects will be assessed by a three hour unseen written examination and unit 5 is assessed either by a three hour case study exam, or by a 3,000-4,000 word work based project report. Units 1-4 of Advanced Diploma are assessed by a three hour unseen examination, comprising of a choice of 4 questions from 8, designed to assess the depth and breadth of candidates knowledge of the unit and unit 5 is assessed either by a three hour case study exam, or by a 3,000-4,000 word work based project report.

Mode of Delivery

Full and part-time, face to face semesterly based. However students can join in any semester.

Awarding Body

The Institute of Administrative Management Entry Requirements

  • No formal qualifications are required for entry into the Certificate Level, but applicants must demonstrate competence in the English language.
  • For entry to the Diploma Level, applicants must have attained iam Certificate in Administrative Management and at least two years previous experience.
  • If applicants would like to get direct entry to the Advanced Diploma, they should have the relevant diploma level qualifications from the iam or other recognised bodies.
English Requirements

Applicants must also satisfy at least one of the following requirements for English proficiency:
  • The medium of instruction of applicant’s tertiary studies was English;
  • A score 5.5 or better on the IELTS;
  • ‘A’ credit or better in English in the GCE ‘O’ or ‘A’ levels or equivalent.
