Rationale In the increasingly competitive global environment, aspiring and working managers need to be able to convince their current and prospective employers and academic institutions that they have a competitive edge over their peers. Professional Management Qualifications from the Chartered Management Institute provide that added value and are fully recognised by QCA and Ofqual. The Chartered Management is the UK’s only Chartered Institute for Professional Managers that awards management and leadership qualifications. LCMS provides its students with the opportunity to gain that competitive edge by offering CMI Leadership and Management Diploma courses at Levels 4,5 & 6 and Strategic Management and Leadership at Level 7. Each of the CMI programmes offered by LCMS can:
- enable students to gain a dual qualification from one course of study and progression to a higher level of study
- enable progression to a higher level of study
- provide one CMI qualification
For example: The CMI Level 5 Diploma enables progression to the CMI Level 6 in Management & Leadership and then progress to level 7 qualification, to the Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (PGDMS) and ultimately to the MBA The CMI Diploma at Level 7 in Leadership and Management can be taken alone or with PGDMS; one course of study leading to TWO different qualifications; one professional and one academic. Students can then progress to the MBA with a much stronger, recognised practical base.. The CMI Diploma at Level 4, 5, 6 or at Level 7 can be taken as ‘stand alone’ qualifications. All qualifications are fully recognised by UK universities; valued for their vocational and academic rigour and demonstrating the significant value that the holder has for the management profession Each programme is full time and lasts for twelve months. They have two components, taught units and assessment; the Level 5 Diploma (including level 4) has a total of 16 units and Level 7 Diploma (including level 6) has 17 units. The subjects taught cover the whole range of managerial tasks focusing on practical management application, personal development as a manager as well as the underpinning theory. Students will also learn project management techniques and carry out a management/strategic management project. This aspect alone is a valuable tool in a manager’s range of capabilities.
