Generally speaking, development of knowledge in any discipline and its dissemination is boosted when theory and practice complement each other. The knowledge bank that is created by theoretical research would be of limited use for the betterment of a society unless supported by applied research. This is all the more applicable when it comes to management education. Great institutions would not be where they are today if the practical side of research had not added substance of significant value to the teaching curriculum that such institutions follow to educate both their students and the business practitioners. The greatness of an academic institution, therefore, lies in its research capability and contribution. Whilst we a relative newcomer, LCMS is determined to follow this noble path. It has already developed a research infrastructure – The Academy of Business and Retail Management, and the research route it is following comprises the following:
- Promoting an internationally recognized and peer reviewed journal www.jbrmr.com
- Conducting Management Development Programmes (MDPs)
- Holding international conferences.
- Promoting in-house research on topical issues in the area of management – retail management in particular - as well as staff development at the college.
LCMS sincerely believes that its research efforts will have a positive impact on the quality of its management programmes and will therefore also contribute in a small way to the cause of productivity of the business sector and the welfare of the society in general.
