Rationale
The main rationale for offering the Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism management is to prepare highly trained managers for the many new career pathways in Hospitality & Tourism sector. This programme has been devised on the basis that students will attend a course of study not less than 120 credits which equates to 240 hours tuition and 960 hours of directed learning. Candidates have an opportunity to gain credit towards either an MA, or an MSc degree. They also have an opportunity to develop higher level academic skills that can be applied in a vocational context.

Programme Structure
London College of Management Studies (LCMS) offers this structured course package that gives business graduates the opportunity to develop their analytical skills and personal effectiveness, to think globally and meet the needs of modern business, while gaining a well recognised qualification. The Postgraduate Diploma consists of four taught units which normally takes a total of 12 months. This qualification will allow upward progression to the MA/MSC or MBA To achieve the award of Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management students will be required to successfully complete the following 4 core units.
Module 1: Hospitality and Tourism Marketing Strategies Module 2: Management and Leadership Across Cultures Module 3: Hospitality and Tourism Strategic Planning Plus ONE of the following options: Module 4: Managing Hospitality and Tourism Projects Module5:Research Methods for Hospitality and Tourism Managers
Assessment
The Postgraduate Diploma assessment methods have been designed to enable students to demonstrate level 7 outcomes for this level of qualification. Given the broad and highly varied nature of the hospitality and tourism industry, candidates will need to demonstrate the higher-level skills and qualities specified in the level 7 outcomes within a non-homogeneous vocational context. Assessment involves investigative assignments, presentations and action research activities. Each unit at the Postgraduate Diploma is assessed by an assignment. This is set by CTH, marked by the tutor and then moderated by CTH. The assignment will be based on the unit content.

Maters' Pathway
Students who complete the CTH Postgraduate Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism management can complete a 60 credit dissertation with the University of Sunderland leading to the award of the University of Sunderland MSC in Tourism and Hospitality.
Entry Requirements
Eligible candidates will be expected to satisfy one of the following requirements:
- A first degree in Hospitality and/or tourism from a recognised university or institution.
- Graduate from other field with Bachelors Degree from recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years work experience at supervisory or managerial level for non graduate from the hospitality & tourism industries.
- HND plus minimum 3 years managerial experience
English Language Requirements
- Applicants must also satisfy at least one of following requirements for English proficiency: The medium of instruction of applicant’s tertiary studies was in English;
- A score of 625 or better on the TOFEL;
- A score 6.5 or better on the IELTS;
- “A” credit or better in English in the GCE “O” or “A” levels or equivalent; or
- Any other evidence of proficiency in English acceptable to the Institute Registrar.
